21 Nov – The Renewable Energy Transition – Social & Political Changes

UF_lecture_energy
The renewable energy transition is most often considered in technical and economic terms, although current energy system changes involve much more than a technical substitution from fossil fuels to renewable electricity generation; this transition also involves social, institutional, and cultural innovations in how energy is used, managed, and distributed. What needs to be done in society, politically and socially to make the transition towards renewable energy? How can you implement and promote renewable energy through politics and socially by changing the norms?
Jennie Stephens, who is Dean’s Professor of Sustainability Science & Policy and one of the leading scientist in the world on this subject, will answer all these questions, and talk about the social and political aspects of renewable energy and about the future of the energy business.
