UF Uppsala will co-host the seminar “25 Years of the Belfast / Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland”

The event will run from 10:15-approx. 11:55, followed by an informal mingle 11:55-12:30, everyone is welcome to join both!
Among the distinguished speakers at the seminar, we have:
- Pat Hynes from Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation and political adviser to Irish ministers in the 1990s
- Ambassadors Judith Gough and Austin Gormley from the British and Irish Embassies, respectively
- Professor Peter Wallensteen who will be the moderator.

The event is co-hosted with The Embassies of Ireland and the United Kingdom, in collaboration with the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University, Pax et Bellum, and UPaD
The seminar will offer perspectives on the peace process that led to the signing of the Belfast / Good Friday Agremeent in 1998. How the Agreement was reached and what its significance has been to people in Northern Ireland. The expert panel, comprosing academics and practitioners from Northern Ireland and beyond, will also reflect on the next 25 years of peace on the island. How the legacy of the Agreement is kept alive and ensures a robust commitment to peace among the generation born after 1998?
