February 7 – The Yellow Vests – Inside Macron’s France

During the last two months, violent protests have erupted across France in response to proposed reforms by President Emmanuel Macron. These protests, dubbed the yellow vests for their signature high visibility jackets, have grown from being policy oriented to straight out anti-Macron and have asserted enough pressure to make the president change his mind on issues such as fuel tax increases. Who are these yellow vests and what do they want? And how is it going for the Macron presidency?

Alice Petrén is a journalist and correspondent at Sveriges Radio and is right now covering issues surrounding migration and refugees. She has previously been stationed in countries all over the world, for example Paris for nine years.
