Lecture: Women’s and Children’s Health in Afghanistan

Anna Ek and Dr. Marie Inhammar will discuss Women’s and Children’s Health in Afghanistan. Structural, cultural and personal examples regarding maternity care, malnourishment and furthering the education of midwives will all be discussed as they explain the access and ability to safe healthcare.
Dr. Marie Inhammar is a pediatrician at Doctors Without Borders. She worked in Afghanistan during 2020, and has been involved with the organization for many years. Dr. Inhammar will share medical examples and personal experiences from patient meetings during her time in Afghanistan.
Anna Ek is Country Director Sweden of The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan. Over 2.5 million people receive medical care each year at clinics and hospitals run by the organization, and they have been active within the country since 1982. Anna Ek will delve into the systematic situation and shift, along with what SCA is doing to help and empower women and girls.
