November 1 – Misinformation and Election Interference: The Swedish Experience

Introducing the second lecture in our four-part series dedicated to the American midterms: America Week!
The legitimacy of a democracy lies in the legitimacy of its elections. Lately, many reports have pointed to numerous attempts by foreign powers to interfere in different elections, leading to investigations in both the United Kingdom and The United States. In many parts of Europe, including Sweden, misinformation campaigns have been conducted by unknown actors with the goal of spreading distrust and splits amongst the populations. How extensive are these assaults on democracy and what is being done to stop them?
