The Star Wars generation comes of age: Youthonomics & Nomadism in the 21st century
Ever-nearing singularity and travel to Mars and beyond; end of Western hegemony but persistent centralization of the global narrative; drift into irrelevance of the nation-state and the inter-national system it underpins; hidden, continued gerontocracy; obsolescence of our educational systems and chronic joblessness in the age of the fourth industrial revolution – young people are faced with a number of paradigm shifts of unprecedented magnitude.
This lecture will look at ways they may turn the vicious circle many of them appear to be caught up in into a virtuous one by rising above the fray of nations and embracing their destiny as the Star Wars generation.
Felix Marquardt is the Executive Director of Youthonomics, a think tank focusing on intergenerational inequality which he co-founded with JoséRamos-Horta (Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and former President of Timor Leste).
