Utryck Editors

The Uppsala Association of Foreign Affairs is looking for editors for Uttryck Magazine for the autumn of 2022 and spring of 2023. We need your help in maintaining the creative and collaborative environment that produces the best magazine in Uppsala! Uttryck Magazine is published in printed edition three times per year, as well as online at uttryckmagazine.com where articles are published continuously. Our aim is to feature a variety of different kinds of texts, including interviews, political analyses, columns and more.

As editor, your main focus will be on the printed magazine, working closely with the editors-in-chief. The editors’ workload will increase as the printing date approaches. Your main responsibilities will include keeping in contact with our writers, arranging activities, planning the editorial work, proofreading, and, of course, editing articles. If you wish, you will also get the chance to help with layout, illustrations, and to write yourself. The editorial team of Uttryck Magazine always work closely together!

We are looking for editors who:

• Are creative and innovative
• Have a passion for writing and an interest in foreign affairs
• Work well in groups
• Have organisational skills

No previous editorial experience is needed – Uttryck is a place to learn. Previous editorial or writing experience will, however, be to your advantage.

Layout editors

The Uppsala Association of Foreign Affairs is looking for two layout editors for Uttryck Magazine for the autumn of 2022 and the spring of 2023. We need your help in maintaining the creative and collaborative environment that produces the best magazine in Uppsala! Uttryck Magazine is published in printed edition three times a year, as well as online at uttryckmagazine.com where articles are published continuously. Our aim is to feature a variety of different kinds of texts, including interviews, political analysis, columns and much more. We are also looking to fill each issue of Uttryck Magazine with amazing illustrations and pictures. 

As layout editor, your most important responsibilities will be to put together the layout for each and every one of the printed editions of Uttryck, mainly using Adobe InDesign. You will be working with the layout for the magazine together with one of our editors-in-chief, but you will also be working in close collaboration with the rest of the editorial team, as well as with the writers that are contributing to each issue. An important part in your role as layout editor will be to recruit and coordinate the illustrators for each issue and make sure that the magazine is full of art and illustration. The assignment is rewarding and offers a lot of creative freedom, but also a lot of work, especially during the weeks leading up to the printing of each issue. No previous experience working with layout is required, but it is of course beneficial to be familiar with working in Adobe InDesign. 

We are looking for a layout editor who: 

• Has an interest in graphic design and layout
• Is creative, innovative and comfortable with taking a lot of responsibility 
• Likes working together with other people and contributes to a great group dynamic
