Apart from engaging in a riverting debate about how Bananas should be made Sweden’s national fruit, we often have light hearted talks on geopolitics, culture, economics, justice and law, pop culture, movies, media, climate and sustainability, phylosophy and numerous other ’issues’ .

A great platform to learn and develop how to think critically and on your feet, practice your public speaking and presentation skills as well as have make great friends you can talk to about literally anything. We love after debate drinks and socials too! Open to all members.

The Uppsala Association of International Affairs recruits debate trustees at the start of each operational year (around August/September). The debate trustees work closely with the Heads of Activity to organize the debates, choose the weekly topics, and moderate. It requires a lot of creativity, dedication, and drive to be part of the team. If you want to take over the biggest role, by May every year the Association elects the board for the nearest upcoming operational year, there you can become the next Head of Debate.

If you think you can effectively defend why bananas should be Sweden’s national fruit and why all dogs should wear elf ears at Christmas, along with the ability of organising meetings and preparing some good coffee, then you’re the one person we are looking for. The UF Uppsala Debate Club needs active hands, willing to spend a little extra time ensuring members of the club and visitors always have a memorable time arguing (in a civil manner of course). We’re a group of passionate people and you signing up as a trustee means you want to tap into that passion too. The debate club will help you grow as not only a speaker, but in your organising abilities and planning skills as well.

We need team members who:

• Is dedicated to showing up at meetings and practices of the club.
• Has some experience with excel.
• Is approachable and loves working with people.
