Election Committee
The Election Committee plays a vital role in ensuring a fair and transparent selection process for UF Uppsala’s leadership. Acting in the interest of the members, the committee is responsible for preparing a well-researched and balanced proposal for a new Board each year.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluating and nominating candidates for the Board, ensuring a diverse and competent leadership team.
- Consulting with the Board when appointing acting Board members in case of vacancies.
- Presenting their candidate proposal at the Spring Annual Meeting.
Composition and Selection
- The Election Committee is elected annually at the Spring Annual Meeting.
- It must consist of at least two members, one of whom serves as the summoner.
- Members of the Election Committee must remain impartial and cannot simultaneously serve on the Board.
By ensuring a transparent and well-structured election process, the Election Committee helps maintain the integrity and effectiveness of UF Uppsala’s leadership.
Become part of the Election Committee
The operational year at UF Uppsala begins on July 1st.
Each spring (April–May), applications for positions open through our website and social media channels. If your profile matches a role you’ve applied for, you’ll be invited for an interview. The Election Committee will then review candidates and nominate individuals for each position.
The final decision is made at the Spring Annual Meeting, where UF Uppsala members vote to elect the new board. Most roles include a seat on the board, giving you voting rights and a key role in shaping the association. Board members are expected to attend monthly meetings throughout the year.
As a member of UF Uppsala’s Election Committee, you play a key role in ensuring the association is led by dedicated and capable individuals. Your work involves managing the application process, conducting interviews, and nominating candidates for positions on the Board, as well as for auditor, deputy auditor, and the next Election Committee ahead of the election meeting. The committee also supports the Board with by-elections if a member steps down during the year or if new vacancies arise.
What Makes a Strong Candidate?
Experience in association work is valuable. A long-term perspective, an understanding of the full selection process, and strong interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role. And, of course, a passion for UF Uppsala is always welcome!
